Hot accounts are frequently accessed and remain in the active state trie. They pay the standard storage rate and benefit from warm-cache read costs (100 gas vs 2,100 gas cold).
Warm accounts have not been accessed recently but are still in the state trie. They pay a reduced storage rate. Accessing a warm account promotes it back to hot status.
Cold accounts have been inactive for over 90 days. They are candidates for state eviction. A witness proof is required to restore a cold account, and a restoration fee applies.
State rent (QIP-002) is deferred to a future release. Data shown is from current account status based on last access epoch tracking.
